Celer Soluciones takes part in the Transtype 2 project.
Celer Soluciones takes part in the Transtype 2 project, within the IST programme of the European Union

The European Union gave the go-ahead to the Transtype 2 project, which Celer Soluciones takes part in, in March 2002.
This project, included in the IST (Information Society Technologies) programme backed by the European Union, consists of developing an interactive help tool for translators with the aim of proposing translation suggestions to facilitate their work.
Transtype 2 is the second development phase of the Transtype translation tool created in the mid-1990s. The new version will include an increased number of items recorded in the programme's database. It will also feature the possibility of including glossaries and dictionaries and a voice-activated application.
A further novelty consists of including English-Spanish and English-German as working languages (the Transtype I project only covered the English-French language combination).
Several European and Canadian companies and institutions are collaborating in the project, working on the different areas of development and implementation:
SchlumbergerSema is the programme co-ordinator in charge of the integration, dissemination and exploitation of tasks.
The Information Technology Institute (ITI) and the technology institute RWTH Aachen are responsible for analysing documents and dividing them into processing units, for R&D statistical translation engines, and for speech recognition features.
Rali, a Canadian lab at the University of Montreal, is supplying the translation tool and defining the user profiles.
Xerox will provide the documentary bases and the required processing technology.
Celer Soluciones will determine the requirements for the documents that will make up the database and, together with the candian translation company Gamma, will assess the effectiveness of the tool.
Translation companies, governmental organisation and freelance translators will all benefit from this tool.
Transtype 2's contributions to translation will include helping translators maintain text consistency by using expressions already used in previous work, increasing their outputs and considerably reducing the time and execution costs involved in translation projects.
